her birthday

It was her birthday yesterday. Her advice echoes, as she continues to live in the hearts. Mine for sure. "Some is always enough, but always take two candies at once" she would say. She visits, often lately, comes in a bold moving statements, makes me want to jump out of my skin, I can still smell her wool vest in my nostrils, her stories standing strong in spirit echo as a giant reminder. "Enjoy. Slowly. Eat well." All seriousness turned to laughter, she never failed to have a good joke after a long silence and loud, slow chewing of the chicken. She enjoyed torturing our minds. We would wait, as we knew, something good is coming. She would smirk, look down on bread made by her own hands, tasting so delicious, slowing down every movement, every touch, for ever bite she massaged with her fingers, that fed all of us young, her jokes crushed all inflated ego's in the room in a split second, with smile and confidence. She enjoyed the slow burn of it, and she was never wrong.
